Getting started

How do I order?

Order directly on the order page and pay by card. You can also visit our office at Föreningsgatan 28, Malmö, Mon and Fri 10–13, Wed 13–16 (closed on public holidays), and we will help you in person.

How quickly do I get my address?

If you order at our office, you get your address and mailbox straight away. If you order online, we confirm the order during office hours and send a welcome email with everything you need.

How much does a mailbox cost?

A physical mailbox costs from 150 SEK/month excl. VAT for businesses and 150 SEK/month for individuals. A digital mailbox costs from 208 SEK/month excl. VAT and 208 SEK/month respectively. You can see all prices and periods on the order page.

Do you have mailboxes available?

Yes, we always have mailboxes available.

Can several people share a mailbox?

Yes. Up to 4 companies can share a mailbox. The first company is included and each additional company costs a fixed monthly fee. Two private individuals can share the same mailbox.

Address and registration

What will my address be?

Your address will be your name or company name, followed by Poststugan and your box number, and finally 211 65 Malmö. For example:
Anders Andersson
Poststugan 1234
211 65 Malmö
Use the address exactly like this so your mail arrives without delay.

Can the company be registered at the address?

Yes. You register the company’s new address via verksamt.se. If you want our street address as the company’s address, choose the Street address add-on when you order.

Can I use Poststugan as a special postal address?

Yes. You register a special postal address with Skatteverket.

Can I register my residential address (folkbokföring) at Poststugan?

No. We offer a special postal address, not a registered residential address. Registering your residence at a mailbox is an offence under the Swedish Population Registration Act, and we will close the service if we discover it.

Mail and parcels

Can I receive parcels?

Yes. Parcels can be sent to us or to a pick-up point such as PostNord, DHL or UPS. If a parcel does not fit in your mailbox, we place it in one of our parcel lockers and notify you when it has arrived.

When can I collect my mail?

The mailboxes are accessible every day 05–23, all year round. The office is open Mon and Fri 10–13, Wed 13–16 (closed on public holidays).

Can you forward my mail?

Yes. We send mail and parcels to any address in Sweden or abroad. Read more about mail forwarding.

Digital mailbox

How does a digital mailbox work?

You get your own postal address with us. We receive your letters, open and scan them and email them to you as a PDF. Scanning of up to 40 letters a month is included.

What happens to the original letters?

You decide. Without an add-on they are shredded and recycled. Mail storage at our office costs 99 SEK/month, and your own physical mailbox that you can empty every day 05–23, with your own key and tag, costs 149 SEK/month plus a start-up fee for the key and tag. For businesses, mail storage costs 99 SEK/month and your own physical mailbox 149 SEK/month, excluding VAT.

What happens if a letter can’t be scanned?

We will contact you. You choose whether the letter should be forwarded, which costs extra, or whether you collect it at the office.

Identity verification

Why do I need to verify my identity?

Under the Swedish Anti-Money Laundering Act we must verify the identity of all customers. You verify your identity at our office or upload a certified copy.

Which ID documents are accepted?

A Swedish ID card, driving licence, national EU ID card or valid passport. We verify the identity of all customers in accordance with the Swedish Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Can someone else sign up for the mailbox on my behalf?

Yes, a representative can sign up for the mailbox on your behalf. The representative brings ID for both of you and a power of attorney that you have signed. For representatives, only Swedish ID documents are accepted.

Can I verify my identity without coming to the office?

For a digital mailbox you can upload a certified copy of your ID document when you order. The copy is encrypted with AES-256. For a physical mailbox you show your ID at the office when you collect your key and tag.

Payment and cancellation

How do I pay?

By card when you order. New customers pay in advance. Businesses can then pay by invoice.

Are prices shown with or without VAT?

Business prices are shown excluding VAT. Prices for individuals are shown including VAT.

Does a sole trader count as a business?

Yes. As a sole trader you order as a business and pay the business price excluding VAT. Your Swedish personal identity number is used as the registration number. See business prices.

Can we order before the company is registered?

Yes. Tick “The company is not registered yet” when you order. You pay the business price straight away, and the mailbox is in your name as the authorised signatory until the company is registered. Then upload the certificate of registration under My account and we will transfer the mailbox to the company. We will remind you after 30 days.

Can we use the address on our website and in our online shop?

Yes. The address can appear in your website footer, on your contact page, in your terms and on invoices and quotes. Under the Swedish E-commerce Act, a company website must show the company’s name, address, email address and registration number. If you sell to consumers, the Swedish Distance Contracts Act also requires a street address where customers can send complaints – choose the Street address add-on when you order and you can use our street address.

Can the address appear on our products and packaging?

Yes, as a postal address. The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires the manufacturer’s or importer’s name, postal address and email address to appear on the product or its packaging. Your address with us is a postal address where you receive mail and parcels. Some product groups, such as toys, electronics and cosmetics, have their own labelling rules, so check what applies to your products.

How do I cancel?

Via My account or by email to postmaster@poststugan.se, no later than 30 days before your next renewal. Otherwise your subscription renews automatically. Paid periods are not refunded, apart from the right of withdrawal for private individuals who ordered via the website.

What do I need to do when the agreement ends?

Important for private individuals: deregister your special postal address with Skatteverket before the agreement ends. Otherwise authorities, banks and others will keep sending mail here, and once the agreement has ended we cannot handle it. You then risk missing important letters. Also update your address with your bank, your insurance company and anyone else who sends you mail. Companies update their address with Bolagsverket via verksamt.se.

Do I have a right of withdrawal?

Yes, if you are a private individual and ordered via the website, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. The service starts immediately, so if you withdraw we deduct an amount equal to the first month, at least 300 SEK. The set-up fee (start-up fee) is not refunded. Orders placed at our office are not covered by the right of withdrawal.
